Trust in The Lord's Goodness

It is so important to trust in

  • the goodness of God,
  • the integrity of his word and
  • the straightforward nature of his ways

    Proverbs 3:5

    Trust in the LORD with all your heart,
    and lean not on your own understanding;

    Ps 34:8

    Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good;
    Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!

    Ps 37:3

    Trust in the Lord, and do good;
    Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness.

    Ps 91:2

    I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge, my fortress, my God, in Him will I trust“

    The Goodness of God

    The absolute, unshakeable, indisputable goodness of God

    Ps 34:8

    Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good;

    Ps 136:1

    Oh give thanks unto the Lord for He is good.

    Matt 19:18, Mark 10:17

    So Jesus said to him, “Why do you call Me good?
    No one is good but One, that is, God.

    Rom 2:4

    The goodness of God leads you to repentance

    Acts 10:38

    Jesus … went about doing good … for God was with him ()

    The Integrity of His Word

    Num 23:19

    God is not a man, that He should lie,
    or a son of man, that He should change His mind.
    Does He speak and not act?
    Does He promise and not fulfill?

    Jer 1:12

    I will hasten my word to perform it

    Heb 6:17-18

    Wherein God, willing more abundantly to shew unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath: 18 That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation

    The Straightforward Nature of His Ways

    Psalm 103:8

    He made known His ways to Moses,
    is acts to the people of Israel.

    To know His ways we must habitually seek fellowship with Him. The Israelites had no interest in getting close to God, they only wanted His benefits at no cost.

    Isaiah 55:6-8

    Seek the LORD while He may be found,
    Call upon Him while He is near.
    Let the wicked forsake his way,
    And the unrighteous man his thoughts;
    Let him return to the LORD, And He will have mercy on him;
    And to our God, For He will abundantly pardon.
    “For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
    Nor are your ways My ways,” says the LORD.

    We are neither wicked nor unrighteous, we have the mind of Christ, we understand his ways. God’s desire is that we know His ways, embrace His ways and walk in His ways.

    Gods ways are mercy, Gods ways are lovingkindness, His ways are goodness.

    His ways possess an unequivocal rationality. There is a plain straightforward logic in His thoughts in which there is no guile, no ambiguity, no subterfuge, no deceit, no trickery, no reverse psychology. He means just what he says and he’ll do just what he says.

    The Father does not lay traps to catch me out, He is the deliverer from the snare of the fowler (Ps 91:3), not the trapper. The devil is the fowler who sets snares, we are not ignorant of his devices, we stand against his wiles and quench his fiery darts. God is not an insurance company that quotes the small print to avoid providing what the precious blood of Jesus has bought for us and is rightfully ours. We must receive the kingdom like an innocent child, fully trusting our loving Father, nothing wavering.

    for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind.
    For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord;
    (James 1:6-7)
